Rights and Licences
Authors' Retention of Copyright
When publishing in the Journal of Sustainability Science and Development (JSSD), authors maintain full ownership of their work while granting JSSD a non-exclusive publishing license. The journal operates under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 International License framework, which enables broad academic sharing while protecting authors' rights.
Under this license, other researchers and academics may:
- Use and distribute the published work for academic and research purposes, with proper citation of the original authors and JSSD as the publishing platform
- Build upon or modify the original research to create new works, provided these derivatives are also shared under the same CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license and are not used for commercial gain.
Non-Commercial Usage
The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 International License strictly prohibits using published works for profit. This means you cannot sell, monetize, or commercially benefit from articles published in JSSD. This rule helps maintain the academic integrity of research shared through our journal.
Share Alike Requirement
Researchers must follow the same licensing rules when developing new work based on JSSD publications. This means any new research or adaptations must also be shared freely and cannot be used commercially. Think of it as passing forward the spirit of open academic sharing.
Usage, Attribution, and Citations
Authors and readers are allowed to:
- Share articles freely through any platform or format
- Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the article for non-commercial purposes.
- Provide appropriate attribution to the original authors and the journal.
When using content from the Journal of Sustainability Science and Development (JSSD), proper attribution must be provided through citation of the original source and authors.
Copyright Infringement and Ethical Considerations
If you discover your work has been used inappropriately in JSSD or you represent someone whose copyright may have been violated, please reach out to our editorial team immediately. To maintain research integrity, we take these matters seriously and handle all copyright issues following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
For any questions or inquiries related to copyright and licensing, please contact the editorial team.
